| The
history of SK Energy dates back in 1962, when the company
was established under the name of Korea Oil Corporation.
From those early days to the present, SK Energy. has remained
at the forefront of Korea's economic development, pioneering
the industrial fields of petrochemicals and oil refining and
laying the foundations for national prosperity.
The Ulsan Complex, SK Energy.'s main production center, comprises
some 40 individual plants on a 8.25 million m2 (2,050-acre)
site and is the largest integrated oil refinery in the world.
The complex, where about 3,200 men and women work in shifts
to keep operations running 24 hours a day, turns out over
20 different petroleum products.
These include LPG, gasoline, gas oil, kerosene and as well
as feedstocks for petrochemical products and synthetic fiber.
The complex meets 40% of Korea's total demand for refined
oil and has been exporting high-purity gasoline and gas oil
to Japan since 1995. Large-scale exports of synthetic resin
and asphalt to China are a further testament to SK Energy.'s
reputation for quality and dependability. |
